Late at the Well

Who I am

First of all, I am completely new to blogging. I am not sure how I ended up with a number of pre-set posts on my blog, but I think they came with the template. The first one on this site, entitled A Baby Christian, is actually my very first post.

if you read it, you know I am a new Christian. Well, maybe three years doesn’t qualify me for “brand new”, but I still feel newer than almost everyone else in my church. I am not new to the world, however, having been on this planet for 62 years now.

It’s never easy to describe yourself, but like most people, I would rather lead with the positive. I think I’m generally an optimist, even impulsively so, and that has made me a grateful person because I see a lot of goodness and beauty around me. I’ve been that way for a long time. When I was a little girl, I wanted to see the world and really know the people in it. I was very fortunate because God made it possible for me to experience all that I had dreamed of through my work as a language teacher. In the end, I spent most of my career of 42 years teaching in 13 countries spread over 4 continents.

I also wanted to be a mom, and I have two amazing adult children who I love very much. They still keep me on my toes. I am hoping for grandchildren in the near future, and my children will tell you I am a VERY hopeful person in that respect as well.

That’s probably a good enough start. If you follow me for a bit on this blog, more will inevitably be revealed through what I write. And write I will, because words are a bridge to understanding and, despite the major hiccup at Babel, they are still a gift that I’m pretty sure God meant to be a bridge more than a sword. In this case, I hope they may be helpful in digging out more of what we all share — being human in a world that is at once beautiful and daunting in its brokenness.
